Dear Neighbor,

I am running for D.C. Council At-Large because I believe our leadership should reflect the full, complex story of our city—and like so many of you, I have lived that story.

My wife of 25 years, Kenya, and I are raising our four sons right here, navigating the same public and charter schools, the same opportunities, and the same hurdles that your family faces every day. That lived reality grounds my leadership, but it is my professional experience serving this city that prepares me to deliver real results for you.

I was born and raised in D.C. I’m raising my family in D.C. Now, I’m running to deliver for D.C.

What Being a Principal Taught Me About City Government

As a former elementary and middle school principal, I didn’t just manage buildings – I led complex, high-stakes ecosystems. Every day, I made decisions that carried real, immediate consequences for families from incredibly diverse backgrounds and neighborhoods.

A successful school principal must be a fierce advocate, a careful steward of resources, and a creative problem-solver. Those are the exact skills required of an At-Large Councilmember. Just as a principal must balance the unique needs of an individual classroom with the overarching success of the entire school, I am prepared to balance the urgent, specific needs of your ward with a steadfast commitment to citywide equity.

Advocating for You, Educating Our Community, Elevating Our Future

My background as an educator fundamentally shapes how I view public service. I believe a strong leader doesn’t just make decisions behind closed doors, they actively educate and empower the people they serve.

On the Council, I will make it a priority to ensure you understand the “how” and “why” behind the policies impacting your neighborhood. I will fight for investments that are innovative, effective, and grounded in data. That means asking the tough questions, cutting through government red tape, and demanding that D.C. services are highly accessible and responsive to you. By improving how our systems function and bringing residents directly into the process, we don’t just solve today’s problems—we elevate our communities for the future.

Building Consensus Across All Eight Wards

Real progress requires bringing people to the table. Throughout my career, I have successfully convened parents, teachers, and community members to find common ground in difficult situations.

I will bring that same collaborative approach to the John A. Wilson Building. I will consistently convene residents, educators, business leaders, and community stakeholders to listen, learn, and build consensus. We cannot move forward in silos. We must pass policies that strengthen our schools, expand economic opportunity, and improve the quality of life in every single neighborhood, no matter which ward you call home.

Preparing Washington, D.C. for Tomorrow

My commitment to you is simple: I will work relentlessly to help build a Washington, D.C. that isn’t just managing the challenges of today, but proactively preparing for tomorrow.

Together, we can build a city that is resilient, inclusive, and full of opportunity for every family. I look forward to meeting you, and I hope to earn your trust, your partnership, and your vote.

In service to our city,
